C.E.R.T Certification Training
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) certification training is a comprehensive program that will train you to prepare for, respond to, and recover from major disasters.
Training subjects include:
Disaster Preparedness

Team Organization
Medical Operations
Light Search & Rescue
Fire Suppression
Disaster Psychology
Terrorism
Introduction to National Incident Management System
Disaster Simulation

There are three levels of certification available:
Basic CERT - Awareness and Neighborhood Response Level- Complete and pass initial 24 hour CERT training
- Complete a background check through Mammoth Lakes Police Department
Responsibilities/Involvement
- You may assist, at your discretion, your neighbors during disasters or emergencies as a spontaneous volunteer.
- You may be asked to assist the Town of Mammoth Lakes during non-disaster times by helping to provide public education, training, and coordination of the CERT program.
- Attend monthly meetings
Intermediate CERT - Community Response Level
- All requirements included in Basic CERT
- Red Cross or American Heart First Aid, CPR and AED course
- Red Cross Shelter Training
- IS 100 Complete Online Introduction to the Incident Command System
- IS 700 Complete Online Introduction to the National Incident Management System
- You may assist, at your discretion, your neighbors during disasters or emergencies as a spontaneous volunteer.
- You may be contacted by the Town of Mammoth Lakes to assist in your community by performing a specific assignment during or in the aftermath of a disaster as an Activated Volunteer/Disaster Service Worker
- Attend monthly meeting
Advance CERT - Mutual Aid Level
- All requirements included in Basic and Intermediate CERT
- Attend a CERT Mutual Aid Program Orientation Course
- IS 200 Complete Online Incident Command System for Single Resources and Initial Actions Incidents
- Damage assessment
- All of the responsibilities included in Intermediate CERT
- You may be contacted by the Town of Mammoth Lakes to assist in another jurisdiction when the Town has not been effected by the emergency or disaster at hand
- In order to retain CERT Mutual Aid Program status you must complete all Intermediate training requirements/responsibilities annually
- Participate in annual EOC/Disaster Drill
